23 Aug Customize Gmail and Make it More Powerful
Gmail is a very powerful and well-built tech tool, but there are ways to make it even more powerful.
Here are few ways to customize Gmail, or completely transform it.
Schedule messages to send, or read later
Preschedule messages. If you would like to create an email now but have it sent at a later time/date, then use a browser extension such as Right Inbox or Boomerang to do it for you. Both of these services (Gmail Extensions) let you send up to 10 pre-scheduled messages per month for no cost or an unlimited amount for around $5 a month.
Put your emails on snooze
Gmail Snooze allows you to schedule your emails to rise back up the top of your inbox at a later date or time. Gmail Snooze is a Chrome extension that can do this for you.
Canned responses
Send stock email responses. To save even more time, Gmail users should consider creating canned responses through one of Gmail’s Labs features.
Find out if your email was read
Intelliverse Email Tracker, Bananatag Email Tracking, Sidekick are Chrome extensions that help you figure out if your emails have been opened or not. These Chrome extensions can show you how many times your email was opened, on what device and where the person was when they opened it.
Blow up your emails
Self-Destructing email. Dmail is a Chrome extension that makes your messages self-destruct. Google also updated Gmail with an “undo” button that lets you rescind an email.
Work offline
Gmail Offline is a Google Chrome app that enables you to read and manage messages when you don’t have an Internet connection. You can even compose messages that will be sent when you’re back online. That means you can work without distractions and delay new updates until you want to reconnect.
Get quick notifications
Checker Plus is a Google Chrome extension that shows you how many emails you have without having to keep a browser open. You can even reply to your emails directly through the Checker Plus pop-up notifications.
Get Gmail to text you
AwayFind is a paid service that will free you from constantly checking your inbox. You can tell the app to text or call you only if certain people email you.
The all in one solution
Inbox, a smartphone app, is Google’s newest solution to nearly all standard email needs. Inbox has a task list function, snooze options, and a clean layout complete with contacts’ photos. Another nice feature is that Inbox has easy to read message previews. It works on desktop and mobile.
