To qualify for a Texas Real Estate License, you must meet three fundamental requirements set by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC):

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident. (Please note that DACA recipients do not currently qualify for a Texas Real Estate License).
  • You must meet TREC’s character requirements, which encompass standards for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity.

While a criminal record doesn’t automatically disqualify you from obtaining a Texas Real Estate License, it will necessitate a more detailed review process. You can find further information on this here. Choosing the right Texas Real Estate School can help you understand these requirements thoroughly. See Licensing Steps here.
